Hotpoint WMA10 washing machine - flashing door light

Hello, I have just gone to wash my kids school uniforms and the "door locked" keeps flashing, naturally tried the highly technical bang the door trick, which did not work, can anyone suggest anything as it is a little too close to Xmas to buy a new machine.

check door spring in the handle is it loose or stiff .also check the brushes if they are low its poss blown pcb .
