HOTPOINT WMA37 Smoking Drum

Hi all, I have the WMA37 and recently there has been a smoking smell coming from the machine last night I took the washing out the missus had put in and smoke came out of the drum and the clothes stank, does anyone have any ideas and should I take the top off myself and take a look?

yeah, why not take a look, could be very interesting.... its very easy to take the shell off. You simply start with the "lid" which usually involves a few philips screws along the back edge then slide the lid back and lift off. That gives you a grandstand view of most of the machine.

most likely to be something to do with motor brushes or the belt
