hotpoint wml540p flashing lights across machine

my two year old hotpoint wml540p washing machine has flashing lights when it gets to the spin part of the programme, four lights across the machine flash constantly, we have tried the filter at the bottom of the machine, removed a fair amount of gunk, along with hair clips and a button, when it gets to the spin and lights come on. can only clear by switching off and back on, but then has water in the machine, so have to manually drain water with water connector at the back of the machine.

can anyone tell me whats wrong with machine and can we repair it ourselves.

You still have a blockage in the pipe leading to the filter. Check the pipe and filter again.

thanks rocks1, where is the filter located as we think we have been clearing out the pump at the bottom right front of the machine. we were not aware of a filter. any help is appreciated.
