Are architect drawings/plans required to be archived/recorded by law which show plumbing/electrical layouts of a residential property. (im in scotland) If yes, how do you acquire them, how long are they required to be kept for?

The house plans should still be on file with your Local Planning Authority and you are entitled to view them on request. You will not be able to aquire a set for yourself (as they will be copyrighted) unless you approach the originator.

However, I suggest you don't waste your time as the actual finished product could differ substantially from the original plans. Any changes made during the construction of the house (and there will be quite a few) whether made with or without the BCO's approval will not have been reflected back into the plans.
