House Re-wire.

In your opinions would running the livingroom and kitchen-diner off separate circuits for the plugs be a little excessive?

Its never excessive to split circuits up. Your living room load is miniscule. The laod in the kitchen is typically the largest in the house.

These days one uses a ring final for the kitchen and a ring (or radial) each for upstairs and downstairs rooms.
