hi there

im moving into a small 3 bed 1930's house shortly and need some advice on what i need for a complete install.
it currently has a back boiler and most of the radiators are not under windows so everything will be stripped out.
we will be converting the loft eventually so i need a system without any header/storage tanks etc.

this is what it will be supplying
1)KITCHEN: 1washing machine, 1dishwasher, 1sink, 1outside tap,1 toilet
2)BATHROOM: 1thermostatic valve shower, 1sink, 1bath, 1toilet.
3)RADIATORS: 6 doubles, 4 singles

i was going to go for a combi but there seem to be too many drawbacks
would it be possible to have a megaflow and boiler in the utility room without the need for any other tanks? and giving good pressure everywhere?
the position for the system will be directly underneath the bathroom and about 2 meters from the kitchen if that helps.
what size cylinder(megaflow) in litres would i need, id rather slightly larger than not quite enough

im having a few quotes but would like to have half an idea when i talk to the plumbers.

many thanks

matt

Many would be happy with a combi, but if you have the space separates are better. Yes you can do without loft tanks. Pressure depends on your mains supply - do a search here.
Consider one of the storage combis perhaps, Ideal's Istore maybe.

hi chris

thanks for the input
i couldnt see the ideal istore boiler anywhere but im looking at the worcester cdi range, either the 35 or 40
if i was to go with a combi could i put a pump in for the shower?
we're living in a flat at the moment and the water pressure everywhere is excellent, the shower stings its that good :)

cheers

matt

You dont need to and can't pump the mains. It's awful in some places though, you need to check what it is where you're going. Your water supplier will be able to give you a good idea.

This didn't take much finding. May be too big for you. Only good if you have good mains!
