How Can I Make This Wall Crack Look Nice? [Pics]

Crack between two houses. I have sand, cement and some gravel stones. Original plan was to fill with mortar and attach stones to surface, but someone mentioned some type of black flashing tape? What is generally the best looking thing I can do to make the area between these houses look nice? (can also do the other side for symmetry purposes). Thanks.

Photos of the roof join across the roofs, & the lower white painted render would help.

If what we are seeing is moisture running down the crack then you will have to find the cause or damp might begin to enter the property.
