My new electric oven which I am replacing requires a double pole socket.

How can I tell if my existing 13A double socket is a double pole?

Are all double sockets double pole?

Sure you don't mean the panel must be a double pole switch??
The sockets tend to be single pole.

It might say on the back.

What make is it? MK, for example, don't do single-pole ones.

Alternatively you could stop worrying - removing the plug from the socket is an acceptable method of isolation, so then it doesn't matter whether it's got a single or double pole switch....

If you have a tester check for continuity between N in and N out with the switch in the off position. If there is continuity with the switch off it is single pole, if no continuity it is double pole.

Do it with the power off of course!
