HOW!! Converting from back boiler to a Combi boiler???????

Hi Im in the process of planning to install a combi boiler and rip out the old gravity fed back boiler.

the new boiler is going to be upstairs where the storage tanks are and i was wondering what pipework alterations need to be made as i recall in a previous renovation the plumber joined the pipes under the floor boards in one of the bedrooms before the went downstairs to the back boiler, This made it so all of the pipework was already in the cupboard ready to be made off into the new boiler (ie flow,return hot water and cold water. excluding the gas)

If someone could explain what he would have done and why this would be really helpful.

If you can't work out what the pipes are you have little chance of doing this yourself.

The same goes for the information we need to help you.

Why not ask the person who is going to be doing the work later to advise you on what he thinks you can be doing ahead of time.

from what iv read up on rules regs a legislation you do not have to be qualified to install a heating system, you do however have to be qualified to commission it ie relevant flue gas tests and electrical and gas connections, Part p in some cases for the electrical work needed to be done. (obviously insurance is a different issue)

thank you dan, this is abit of forward planning as in what floor boards (if any) need to be removed) not what pipes do what.

Yeh thats great! But please dont touch or try to decommission anything to do with the back boiler! Please!

im really sorry but im struggling to understand whats so dangerous about decommissioning a back boiler, disconnect the relevant gas and electrical connections (done by the relevant people), drained down and capped off the appropriate water connections and disconnected the flue why the boiler can then not be removed

You may not have to be qualified to work on the water side of your central heating but you do need to have a degree of abillity... Since you are here at the beginning of the project asking us where to start suggests that you have little or no abillity to do the job
