What do the experts recommend as the depth of the fixer/tile cement when laying ceramic tiles onto a screeded floor? I am wondering if the manufacturer advise more than necessary so that you have to buy more??

i personally think most tile adhesive suppliers over estimate their coverage ability, that which is marked up on the packaging anyway.

their figures seem to apply to a perfectly flat laying area.

it all depends on the mud/adhesive mix ,an how they want it spread ,an of course the tile makers ,
some notched floor trowels here

the usual is bigger gap trowel the bigger tile, small gap is smaller trowel tiles

remember with powder mix you can get a 1st class garanteed finish
hope this helps ;)
