I want to get rid of my ugly dilapidated garage, and I want to know how to safely knock the structure down. It's a flat roof building with breeze block walls.

Is it just a case of taking off the roof and doors (after removing the electrics) and then starting at the top with a sledgehammer? It's close to the neighbour's garage so I need to be sure I don't damage their's in the process.

Looks like the doors might be worth flogging

I would remove the roof first, then knock it down gradually into the garage. All the spoil should be contained inside.be careful

Oh get yourself a bargain basement breaker or SDS+ drill from Aldi and go from there. If the roof is corrugated and looks a bit fibrous.... go careful and keep the sheets intact! (The 'A' word..). Take plenty of pictures first - particularly if you're intending to get planning permission for something. The fact that something is (was) already there can help sway a decision in your favour.

How do I knock down the wall that backs on to my neighbour? The gap is about 18 inches.

There is a gap is there- makes it easy. Breaker drill or SDS with a chisel in it, break the mortar bond and pick the blocks off. Easy life :)

I think it has a somewhat retro industrial, shabby chic charm.....very on trend :)

Thanks. Hadn't thought of selling the doors.

Bit of paint to brighten it up and that would make a good workshop!.

Nah, takes up too much of the garden, the roof is rotten and now falling in, and the lights spark and smoke when you switch them on. I'm going to replace it with a shipping container...
