I've completely disconnected it by cutting the pipes running from and to it I cut the cold water feed just above the shut off tap. For some reason the previous owners did not drain it when they had the combi installed?? I want to use the tank afterwards to make a planter and a barbecue so I dont want to destroy it or cut holes in it. Cheers

Stick a hose in the top, run it down to the bottom of the tank and syphon it out. Or find a drain cock, or loosen the cold feed connection a couple of turns, attach hose to top of pipe and flip pipe down so water flows.
