How do I move a steel container?

I'm on an allotment site where we had a 20ft x 8ft steel container delivered about one year ago by the Local Authority. This was temporarily dropped in one place with a view to moving it to a more suitable and final position.
The LA now say they can't afford to hire the equipment to relocate the container so my problem now is how do I move such a thing with relative ease and minimum cost?
The container is from the Falcon range as supplied by Eagle Containers.

My thanks to any helpful and practical advice.

Prob best to ask Eagle Containers, if its a hired container you may need specialist equipment to move it without damaging it..

Are you even sure you are allowed to move the councils container, would need their permission and would probably need to supply method statements and heath and safety stuff along with insurances etc.. gets all very sticky and expensive on admin..

Either that or get a few logs and a tractor and pull it into possition in the middle of the night when no-one is watching.. making sure it has suitable foundations in its final spot of course..

That's exactly what I did, except I used a Land Rover (Discovery), didn't bother with the logs and didn't do it in the middle of the night.

I attached a rope round the "metal shed", low down, so you're dragging more than tending to pull it up.

Once in final postion I levered it up a bit at a time, each corner so that I could lay slabs right under the edges.

Is it on hard standing or rough ground?

On hard standing you should be able to crowbar one end up enough to get a scaff pole under it. Crowbar up the other end and roll it forward a bit, put another scaff pole under it, etc and then just move it like the egyptians did.

Obviously this wont work on anything but a smooth hard surface.

On rough ground a small tractor is your best bet. I can't believe the council don't have one they can send out

Neglected to say the "shed" is on a disused plot which is soil. The contractors came down before the delivery and made the ground far worse by using a bulldozer to "level" the plot. I had the ground nicely prepared in advance and it was firm but afterwards the surface was really f'd up so I'm now having to level it again.
Unfortunately there is little space available for a vehicle as the area to one side is someones veg plot and a high fence is on the other side.
I can only go forwards and backwards if this makes sense.
Please keep the suggestions coming and thank you all.

Use Ratchet straps or a Tirfor winch.
You'll need a good anchor point but this can be made quite quickly and easy.
Come back if you need guidance on an anchor point.

Alternatively, use an A frame and "Levers/ropes".
Again come back if you need guidance.

Ok youll need about 20 ancient egyptian slaves, one slave master, one whip and about 10 good sized poles to put under the container..

I think we're talking about 2.5 tonnes.
While the TEU is not itself a measure of mass, some conclusions can be drawn about the maximum mass that a TEU can represent. The maximum gross mass for a 20-foot (6.1 m) dry cargo container is 24,000 kilograms (53,000 lb).[4] Subtracting the tare mass of the container itself, the maximum amount of cargo per TEU is reduced to approximately 21,600 kilograms (48,000 lb).[4]

Static, you are being very silly, slaves are so expensive to hire these days.

This is a far cheaper solution:
