How do I open/replace this light switch?

Hi, quick question, we have one of these by our front door for the porch light and the hallway light. How does one open it up with a view to potentially replacing it? Thanks.

I would think the bottom half 'opens' by pulling the slots or slides down - if not painted.

Thanks. I’ve tried (gently then not so gently) but no joy. Indeed it has been painted (not by me...).

Break the paint seal around the edges with a Stanley knife and try 2 flat bladed screwdrivers in the slots to slide the bottom half down.

Once you have broken the paint seal, the bottom part of the cover should slide down easily, like below. Please pardon the poor photos.
