We seem to be having major problems with our heating! Put it on for an hour the other day and for the rest of the night it sounded like we had water running freely through the bedroom. Needless to say at 4.30am we bleed the radiators! but this has caused further problems. It now appears there is a air pocket in the pump, which is causing more noise all through the day and night, and is not conducive to a good nights sleep. Anybody know how to shut the dame thing up? or solve the problem before someone gets hurt!!

Air does not usually suddenly appear if the system has not been disturbed.

Have you read the FAQ about bleeding the pump and blocked feed pipes etc? Its all in there!

The question is not: "how do I get the air out of the pump" but " how do I solve the problem that got it there in the first place"

Yep, have had a read, just thought i'd check if there was anything else i should do, will try point 9 though. How do you get air in a system? if we had a leak would that cause it? as when we put the heating on you can always hear a drip down behind a fake wall, which boxes in our piping.

If you can hear water dripping then the usual thing to do is get it fixed quickly before it does more damage!

You seem very unconcerned about the property! Are you tenants or squatters?

My partner own's it but thanks all the same. We are not disconcerned, just haven't got loads of cash lying around to pull down walls etc, so we're saving for it if you really want to know!

Hence the reason i came on here to see if someone could give me advice, and so we could try and fix it ourselves.

9 out of 10 times, this kind of problem is caused by poor maintenance and/or poor installation.
If you lack the knowledge to recognise the problem, it is very unlikely you will have the skills needed to sort it out properly as a diy project.
