How do you properly clear a rainwater downspout?

It chucked it down yesterday and leaves have clogged up the rainwater downspout so the water went everywhere but down the drain.

How do you properly clear a rainwater downspout? Any help gratefully received.

Ladder to clear gutters, then a coil a chicken wire wedged in the top of the downpipe standing proud this will stop further leaves entering and still allow water down.You can get gutter grills which cover the guttering if you live near a lot of trees.

Ladders and dismantle. Either flexible rod or possibly a hose pipe to reverse flush any debris.
