I'm pondering replacing spalled bricks just below the SPC on my gable end. What do folk recommend is the longest run that can be taken out and replaced in one go without the load above making the wall crack. It's a 1970s cavity wall in stretcher bond made from not the highest quality bricks I've seen. Do you think I could take out four (about 900mm) without needing to live in fear of a cracking sound?
How many bricks can you take out before it goes "Bang!"?
