hi everybody, i have just recently bought a repossessed house. i have had two corgi registered gas engineers in. one has said i would need a 30kw boiler and the other has said i would need a 24kw boiler? the house is a 2 bed mid terrace and has 5 radiators.

With pnly one bathroom 24kw will be fine for your hot water, your heat load will only be about 12kw at max.

Get better advice with aporper heat loss calculation and differing boilers in the QUOTES. If they don't charge for the quote it will not be worth the paper it is written on.

BTW check their Gassafe card!

a 24kw boiler should deliver 9.5 l/min of hot water. An average shower is 60% hot and 40% cold water this equates to approx 14l/min through the shower. more than good enough for normal showers, all this assuming the water supply to the house is good enough.

Hence the quotes, not just someoone fitting a boiler they like. What use is 17 l/min if the mains isn't up to it? ;)

not living in it or plan to, going to rent it out but want a good boiler to last me a good few years. decided to get into the property market and have bought two houses so far. not sure if they measured the cold water flow rate.[/quote]
