How many more U turns will this bloody government make?

"austerity" was a word used by lefty marketing types, as it sounds so negative. In reality it's just only spending what you actually have, i.e. being responsible. Sadly the BBC lapped up this crap at the time, implying it was all bad and was just a brief period, after which the reckless entitled borrow-to-spend New Labour policies would be back in force, which is what happened, ironically under the tories after they sold out.

It's a lot like "progressive", which is a lovely positive sounding word that has been adopted by the BBC and chums to describe socialism. It sounds great, who doesn't want to progress? In reality it means handing over your money, under threats of state violence, so that they can waste it all on crap you don't want.

Yes, obviously. Labour never cut anything, never have. What's your point?

It was a word used by the lefty establishment to criticise the tory government.

No it wasn't.

It was a badge of pride, a rallying cry to the tory base, to prolong the myth that they were the party to trust with the nation's finances.

Austerity arose from the banks spending what they didn’t have.

New Labour died in 2010. It’s not reckless to pay off debts to the gilt and bond market who bailed out the banks.

“Let me be clear, digital ID is going to be mandatory if you want to work in the U.K.”

Testing the water.
It’s all relative, the great British public are being asked to test the water with re form

Well they deserved to fail if that's true.

I just remember the BBC and labour almost spitting out the word in disgust when talking about anything that resulted from government spending being anything less than unlimited. It forced their hand, into becoming as useless as labour, which is what got us where we now are.
