i am working in a flat, where there is two radial circuits, run in 2.5mm but i was wondering how many sockets were allowed on a radial of this size in order to pass a test or whether i need to amke the radials a ring to pass

If it's a A3 radial and falls into the parameters set out in the OSG Table 8A then there is no maximum amount, you can have unlimited.

There is a recommendation also in the OSG in Table 8B which gives a suggested minimum amount that is deemed necessary in a domestic installation.

This is just a guide and though worth considering, it is at the end of the day the call of the designer how many or how few sockets are required. In Scotland I believe that there are in fact designated amounts giving in the building regs, but it's all covered really in the OSG

As far as the Regs go the quantity issue is covered by Reg 553.1.7
