how much thick layer of topsoil

hi

just in process of getting some quotes to convert out jungle into useful space with new turf for little one to play in summer.

Part of it already turf but very patchy and large part is raised bed and gravel on weed membrane. some is paving stones.

After all junk is removed. how much topsoil should i put in? Obviously topsoil is expensive (was looking online and saw around £120 per bag!!!!!.

any other tips for a decent enough turf! we are in london so its clay....

We're on Sussex clay and you don't need a lot of topsoil for turf 50mm will grow it. But it's the drainage of the clay that's the problem . Have you considered fake turf.
