how much thickness does 6mm notched adhesive add to tiles ?

about to start tiling 300x600 9mm thick large porcelain tiles onto tanked plasterboard dot and dab.
the wall is perfectly flat thankfully.
if I apply 6mm adhesive to wall then press firmly am i looking at about 12mm total from face of plasterboard to face of tile?


just trying to work it out as need to attach faceplate of shower valve to tiles.

roughly yes your right, but i'd up that trowel size for a large heavy porcelain tile. your looking to get 90% coverage, go 8-10mm min. in terms of the amount of thickness it adds you can roughly divide the trowel depth in half .
