I have a house built in 1930. It has 9.5"brick and plaster load bearing walls. I want to add extra sound insulation to the party wall but I'm not sure about how much extra weight it would be safe to add. Any ideas? Am I worrying unnecessarily?

You'll be fine. Worry about the state of the economy, your pension, knife culture....but not your wall.
