Hi all,

Just bought my first home, and been redecorating. Got it looking spiffy now. The British Gas UP2 programmer (in the kitchen) and RS2 thermostat (in the living room) are huge eyesores though. And I am fairly sure the thermostat is broken.

Ideally, I would like a digital thermostat in the living room. But I dont know where to begin changing something like that. I mean, I dont know at all what I am searching for online.

Ideally, I would like to have something like this thermostat unit:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anself-Pro...ywords=programmable+thermostat+and+controller

It's in the lounge, but presumably I also need another programmer in the kitchen? I just dont know what words I need to use to search for all this. My results are all over the place on google.

Any help would be appreciated.

What are you trying to achieve? Do you want something that just looks a bit shinier, or do you want something Internet-controlled like Nest for example?

A little bit shinier. Id like it programmable of course, and I would prefer the lounge wall unit to have a digital display, but I cant splash out for a Nest or similar, especially as this is a starter house and I only aim to live there ~5 years. If I am still there after that, THEN I can splash out.

I dont know the make and model of the boiler, only that it is older, but regularly serviced and functional so not up for immediate replacement. Its got a water tank upstairs, so I dont think combi.

How good are you at wiring? You're going to need to change some to get what you want

I'm not bad. Dad is a registered electrician if I cant do it.

What are we talking? Honestly, I dont know where to start. Am I replacing both units? Am I replacing just one? Am I removing one and replacing the other?
