We're converting an outbuilding (all above board) and are wondering what to do with this internal drain to make sure it's adequately sealed.
I believe that the mortar around the two waste pipes should be replaced with a rubber seal. But is this easily available for clay drains?
Additionally, what should we do to the cover? Upon lifting it, there seems to be a rotten piece of string which acts as a seal of sorts, but this doesn't seem right?
