How to adjust z connectors on a shower inlet pipe

Hi,

I originally had a gravity fed shower where the hot and cold pipes ran along the loft down into the bathroom to feed an old damixa shower valve.

The inlet pipes to this shower valve protude out of the wall using z connectors but they are 152mm apart. I've switched to a combi boiler and now require a thermostatic valve but the standard inlet centres are 150mm (some of these valve indicate 150mm +/- 5mm, what does this mean? All the valves I've measured are always 150mm)

The wall is all tiled up and I'm not sure how the original inlet pipes have been secured etc. Is there any way to adjust these z connectors without having to rip out all the tiles and re-doing everything afresh?

I don't even know how these z connectors work, can't seem to find anything online. How does the 1/2" bsp side fit into the inlet pipes and how do you adjust it.

Do you reckon I could get way with fastening the 150mm nuts on to 152mm inlet pipes with a bit of tension or I'm I risking it?

When it says + or - 5mm it means that the captive nuts are a loose fit on the shaft and can be moved left or right by 2.5mm from centre position. It should therefore tighten OK to 152mm.

What I don't want to do is try to fasten it to the z connectors and cause them to twist causing a leak behind the wall.
