How to cap off?

Neighbour is currently redoing his shower, with everything removed the plaster at the top near the shower head connection looks slightly damp.

What I need to be able to do is remove the shower head connection there and then fit something into the female fitting to cap it off so I can then open the shower valve and see if the joint leaks.

Any ideas what part I can use for the job?

That's a 1/2 in threaded back plate so any 1/2 in plug will do,
I'd use one intended for radiators as they include a O ring.

One of these though you will need some PTFE tape for the thread as is in the fitting at the moment - get a roll of gas tape and 6 turns should do it.
