Hi there,

Got this hole in my to-be kitchen floor and am wondering how to go about levelling it off to match the existing concrete floor ready to lay tiles.

It's mostly about 40-50mm deep but tapers up to the concrete floor level. I was thinking if I fill it with concrete/screed will it crumble up where it's very thin? Or will this not be a problem since it will be held together by the tile adhesive and (probably slate) tiles?

If I can't fill it in one hit should I perhaps try and fill to slightly below the existing concrete floor level, then latex or similar levelling compound over that to bring it up to the floor level?

Or maybe break out the taper so the whole hole is 40-50mm deep then fill with concrete/screed in one go?

Any advice appreciated. Cheers,

Liam
