I've got a maple hardwood moulding from wittswood.

its bridging a gap between a tiled floor (bathroom) and a laminate floor (hallway). the underfloor is concrete.

this is wittswood's recommended fitting method.

http://www.wittswood.co.uk/moulding-fitting.html

they supply a black plastic channel that is screwed into the floor and then the moulding clips into the plastic channel.

its not an ideal solution since it doesnt clip very tightly and there is a risk that moisture from the bathroom will get under the bathroom side of the moulding.

does anyone have any experience fitting this type of moulding to a concrete substrate using an adhesive?. if so what adhesive do you recommend?

ive seen some expanding foam types on this site that people use to fix window frames to brickwork. would that do the job?

any help is greatly appreciated

cheers

Could you not run a small sealant for water tight?

Gripfill (green tube) is one of the most popular.

If we would be out, we wouldn't be albe to reply ;) It's Saturday morning, give us some time ;)

We normally use grip-fill as adhesive to install the plastic base.

the gripfill page doesn't show wood as an option (although it does mention brick) substance. will gripfill stick the wood directly onto the concrete without needing to use the plastic channel?

No, use the gripfill for the plastic base, then place the threshold in the base (gently and you could try to use some wax in the grippers first for easier fitting and less 'screacking' noises).

thanks for that.

i dont want to use the plastic base if possible because it appears to be pushing the threshold slightly too high above my floor levels. will the gripfill fix the wood fiormly to the concrete withouth using the channel.

Yes, that's possible (some suppliers supply thresholds/trims without a base and then we install them this way). Put some wieght on the thresholds after you have installed it.
BTW, seal the side of the threshold into the bathroom with some transparent silicon to prevent moist coming underneath it.

Hope this helps.
