Good evening,

I am about to convert the flat roof of my porch into a pitched roof.

It will be a lean to roof and i need to fit a wall plate to where the roof meets the brick work.
The roof is 1530mm long and will be tiled. What fixings should i need to use to secure the wall plate?

Regards Matt

The wall plate is secured to the masonry with bent straps.

Simply fixing it to the top course of bricks means it is reliant on the final course only - hence the straps.

Just had a thought......you stated lean-to roof and "where the roof meets the brick work". You could also be referring to the pole plate or pitching plate yes/no?

These are fixed to the masonry using sleeve anchors. We fix 'em with plain old 100mm screws first then use sleeve anchors once the rafters are in place as to avoid rafter ends or joist ends clashing with sleeve anchor studs.
