How to fix this dripping tap?

Hi guys

This tap has started dripping. If I push the left tap hard to close it stops dripping (but soon starts again!).

Presumably its the washer. How do I fix it? Do I need to turn the mains off? What washer size do you think?

These types of tap are a pain in the a***, IME they always leak after just a few months of use. You will need to order the specific cartridge for the tap and whilst your at it order both for hot and cold.

1. If you know make and model of taps, obtain new cartridges. If not, you will have to remove cartridges (there are no washers), find matches, probably order, replace existing cartirdges, await arrival, then fit.
2. Turn the water to hot and cold off. If you are lucky there will be isolation valves under the sink, probably wiht a screwdriver slot in the centre. With slot "across" (at right angles to) pipe, valve is closed, parallel with pipe = open.
3. Remove handles. Probably the handles with white ceramic inserts unscrew to reveal a grub screw (probably 2.0. 2.5 or 3.0 Allen head).
4. Remove shrouds. These are the round chrome / stainless parts lying horizontally and attached to the body of the tap. They probably unscrew but may just pull off.
5. Undo left (normally hot) and cold (normally right) cartridges and replace.
6. Re-assemble as reverse of above.
7. Turn water on.

The cost of that at £17 for one cartridge is a ripoff when all you need is a replacement ceramic disc kit for £3 on ebay.
