Thanks :D

Nice and simple, just want I like. Assume the first one is an angle-grinder. Never used one, and not likely to need one again.

Do you think it would be better to rent a good one, or buy a cheap one?

Don't forget your ear-defenders.

Ear defenders

I said EAR DEFENDERS

EAR DEFENDERS! What's the matter are you...

oh, sorry.

Hi marcosscriven

It does fit through the loft hatch, but is quite heavy. Not sure how one would cut it into pieces?

Do'nt cut it into pieces in loft. Do you want easy job?
If it will fit through loft hatch, and if it has no water in it. ie dry, then get a couple of mates round and take it out through hatch, expecting you will have a ladder up to hatch to slide it down, or a shoulder to to lay it on. It will only take seconds if yu get organised. (take any obstructing pipes off)

Then straight down stairs and out the front door - then you can cut it up, if you really want to without the possiblity of setting your house on fire - or you don't know - maybe a little feature pond in front - :?

Perhaps not - Tip

Above will be easier option - tidier and safer imo

Tony

or even let RIP in corner of loft?

I tried to do this on my own at my old house. As I was lowering the tank down on a bit of rope it got caught on the loft ladder. I hadn't taken my phone up with me, and spent a fun half hour or so trying to get it free before finally suceeding.

Get some help!

Ahh, as I speed read the OP's first post I thought it said it wouldn't fit throgh the hatch!

glad this came up, will be doing the same in my place soon!

Though were a lot of those galvanised tanks not put up before the roof/hatch were installed so they could be whatever sized they liked?

i would hope the tank is out and buried in landfill by now

Only marcosscriven can tell us - but hopefully went to recycling plant that will separate metal and reuse. Or maybe that farmer!!!

Tank would have gone up through the joists - so depending on hieght and depth of your tank - it maybe a possibility to remove through loft hatch - time for tape measure.
