How to get the most from new Vaillant boiler?

Just had a EcoTec plus 418 Vaillant regular fitted & am impressed so far.
At present, I'm controlling via a standard Drayton Lifestyle programmer which switches the boiler on & off according to set times.
Is it more economical to leave the boiler on 24/7 (for DHW at the moment) and let it modulate or have it switching on & off like our old F/S boiler?

I am assuming that the installation is now fully pumped with room and cylinder thermostats and a twin channel programmer.
If this is the case then I would leave the hot water on from morning untill evening, this is because if water is drawn from the cylinder it is replaced with cold and will effectively cool down the complete cylinder, if the boiler can heat the cylinder back up immediately water is used it will save on running costs.
