I have possibly the dumbest question of all time but I'm gonna ask it anyway.

I have a small house with 7 rads in. Baxi combi boiler in main bedroom and all rads function well (thanks to this site ). Zero issues there.

The baxi boiler / main bedroom faces east and in late spring to Autumn does not need heating as probably not do all the other rooms bar the bathroom.

The bathroom on the end of the run which is downstairs is in shade in eves , not brilliantly insulated (very hard to change that) and cold in mornings and eves.
Status- bathroom has no elec socket in and not one near so currently I'd have to manhandle a heater with an extension cable to heat up quickly for shower for perfection. I need it slicker
Bathroom is small with my new 400×600 rad which works perfectly

So now , from May how could I just heat that room for say a shower ? A 25 min visit .....

- is it simply turn off all other rads (or ones I don't need) and leave that on?
Is that inefficient?
Would those smart valves help there ?
( I'd be willing to buy them if it made this essential event easier .....)

How do you expert plumbers do it ? You guys would not endure this ......

A dual fuel towel rail or wall mounted fan heater. These will need to be on for a while before you shower to heat the room.

The boiler will heat one rad only, but will cycle on and off which is inefficient.

Ok an option. That would need an electrician obviously for the wall mounted fan heater. That prob an ideal way as quick heat just getting a reliable electrician on that....

Other issue with that is I have just put in a new rad.... Screwfix 19.99£....
This of course can be sacrificed to solve this problem.

I'll try the all rads off method bar bathroom and see how quick it heats up for the minimal time I am in there. Just the faf of remembering and having all other rads off , hence the thought for smart revs....

Q) where to get wall mounted fan heaters ? I'm.asking as you guys know .....

Possibly the most effective, efficient way, is an infra-red type electric heater, wall or ceiling mounted, or a fan heater. IR has the advantage that it only heats material/bodies/you, rather than heating the air, which warms you. Such a 1.5Kw heater, could be connected to your lighting circuit, for the room. You could also add remote control, via a smart switch.

I like slick .. to be upstairs and desiring to visit the bathroom ....... To be able to heat up without barely moving be useful then 5 mins later arise and walk into bathroom.

You see walls are bathroom wall panels , hell knows how you could route wiring.

Options
1) wall mounted poss remote controlled fan heater
2) Is my cheaper in situ option still viable ? (Turn off all other rads bar bathroom ) Or in winter most rads be on anyway .

But I can see you guys in the know say wall mounted fan heater. Electrician and heater for that ..... Hrmmmm

Try this and see what happens, it might be ok, you won't damage anything.

Both a fan heater, or IR would cost similar to run, but IR heater, would appear to produce results, quicker.

It would be quite a task, going around all the other radiators, turning all off, but the one, then firing up the boiler, just for a few minutes in the bathroom. It would be the slowest way, to get warmth into that room, maybe 30 minutes, before it were warm.

Assuming there is access to the loft area, above the bathroom, and the bathroom has a light - it is an easy job to add a heater, fed from the lighting circuit.

Ok so elec heater it is. Just that I've moved in just , bathroom perfect untouched ceiling and wall panels. So I have to:
- no access to lift area above bathroom. An unknown area above. (Have to create access)
- buy a wall fan heater (with remote)
- find a electrician to plumb in.
BUT
Before I give in if I had smart valves on all 7 rads - 210£ almost is that cheaper ?

Trust me the answer to this is the answer !!

Bathroom has a light !!! And no access to above bathroom outbuilding .
