help. would like to lighten dark oak solid wood kitchen doors but not sure how to go about it . have seen 'lime oak' kits on ebay but is this what i need?
The first thing you need to do is determine whether you're looking for a white limed effect, ie the white remains in the grain of the wood. Or, are you looking to lighten down the oak through bleaching?
Either way you'll need to make sure that all protective coatings have been stripped and you're down to the bare timber.
If you can tell me which way you want to go I can suggest a range of products and suppliers.

As stated you will need to sand back and then you will need to use a fine wire brush to reopen the grain. I have only ever limed new wood. You have a big task ahead
