I want to install a recessed light onto an existing fixture. I think I need to remove the junction box first. The current hole in the ceiling will just fix the light pot, so I don't want to cut out anything from the ceiling.

I believe the box is screwed to the beam and the screws are behind the opening of the box.

I wonder if anyone has done it. If so, how hard is it?

Thanks.

if you remove it where else will you put the wires that are in it?

You can remove its fixing to the joist (IF your local wiring regulations alow this) but apart from that i would leave it alone.

The cover just unscrews, but make sure the mains is off before you do anything
