Hi,

The bulb is still working but when I went into the loft it was just sat loosely about the ceiling spotlight unit. I tried seeing how I could reseat the bulb into the unit but I couldn't figure it out. Is this one where the lamp does get put in from the top, and if so, other than simply trying to bend the two sides apart to create room (they still don't seem to come apart enough to let the bulb in) what else can I try? Else actually is this meant to go in from the bottom instead?

There should be a couple of spring clips.

As in, those spring clips are missing? It’s not meant be a different design. To be clear it’s the bulb that won’t sit in the holder not the holder fitting in the ceiling.

The bulb goes in from the other side held in place by a circular clip, take bulb out, feed the holder through the hole and put bulb in from room below.

Thank you. Ok so the bulb shouldn’t go in from above but from underneath. So I should take the bulb out, go downstairs, try to take off the cover from downstairs and feed the bulb up from the bottom and potentially buy some sort of retaining clip. Is that right?

The only bit I didn’t understand was what you said about the feeding the holder through?

I have some like this - the rim of the bulb slides inbetween the metal bits
Between the red arrows on this picture and the bulb is held away from the glass and you either pull the whole unit out from below or you do it from above. The yellow is the bulb bottom rim

That’s what I was trying to do but I couldn’t get it to fit. Now I’m confused if I should keep trying that or if the bulb is meant to be fitted from below
You twist it left and right whilst sliding in in.

The bulb fits in from below , 1/8 turn anti clockwise of rim then unit pulls down and bulb clips into those two Y shaped clips to hold it above the ceiling . Push back up and 1/8 turn clockwise locks it .

Some have a C clip like this .But yours has two clips.

Unfortunately im still having issues. I think this is a special type because it's above the shower, but I can't turn this at all. Maybe I need to really tank it, but trying quite hard I can't get it to budge.

Just put the bulb in from above as I described

I've got the same things in as soffet lights and the fitting should pull down, it's held in place with spring loaded arms. But as it's not playing ball then put the new bulb in from above as I described
