I am replacing the downstairs of my house with porcelain tiles. I have one step going up into the garage. The house is open plan with a step across the lounge and dining area. I am only tiling the dining area but keeping the carpet in the lounge. Can you please advise on how to finish the step going from dining area to the lounge and the step going from hall into the garage? What is best in looks?

you can get floor trim in different colours ,;)

if there is quite a step up from the carpet too the tile edge , I used to use ply boards under the carpet shaved/chamfered giving a slight slope up too the tile join then screwed down .....
when the carpet an floor trim down it looked very natural ...:)
