How to wire seperate thermo & timer??

My mother has a digital timer/thermostat, that she can't get to grips with, and wants an older style manual one, where the heating comes on twice a day.

She has a combi, and 2 wires run into the timer/thermo from it, red and yellow. They are going into the COM and NO terminals (see attached pici please).

Is it possible for me to buy a seperate thermostat & timer to replace this? And if so, how do I wire it?

I'm thinking of buying the Siemens RWB30E as a timer, because it's easy for her to understand, and ACL Drayton (Invensys) RTS8 Thermostat.

Any help appreciated.
