Hi
I am looking to replace my Salus RXRT505 wireless receiver with a Honeywell wireless bdr91 receiver so i can use evohome.

I thought it would be a straight swap but the bdr91 has different labelling. My boiler is a valliant Eco plus about 12 years old.

The salus was so installed a year ago so i have a wire from the boiler to this receiver. I thought the new receiver would be the same but clearly not . Can anyone let me know what should i connect to ABC on the bdr91?

It's just a matter of moving the wires from the terminals at the Salus to the terminals at the BDR91 that have the same function. Before I start, I should point out that whilst it will work as indeed it has been doing, the wrong cable has been used. Because an earth wire is being used as a live conductor.

However the wiring will be:

1. The "earth wire" with red tape at Salus 'No' (switched Live) goes to BDR91 'B'

2. Brown wire with red tape. Salus L (Live) goes to BDR91 'L'

3. Blue wire. Salus N (Neutral) goes to BDR91 'N'

4. Add a link between BDR91 'L' and 'A'

No connection to be made to 'C'

EDIT . Drawing added.

Stem, the concept of using the mains voltage at 3 to power a control unit is often missed. Useful when a midposition valve needs to be used along with non voltage free programmer

Indeed, some Salus instructions in particular are quite poor, they just show the voltage free contacts wired to a 230V boiler that has two terminals provided for the switching circuit. The BDR91 on the other hand provides a useful second live terminal for the loop to A, to make installation easier. Hopefully diylady will let us know how it went.

Are you just replacing the Salus receiver with the Honeywell? If so, do you realize that the Salus wireless thermostat is not compatible with the Honeywell receiver?

The OP wants to use the BDR91 with Evohome, which is also a Honeywell product. The BDR91 provides the wireless interface between the Evohome Wi-Fi system.

I understand all that. I read the OP's reference to Evohome to mean she intended to install Evohome some time in the future, so wanted to change the Salus receiver for a BDR91 in advance.
