How would you permanently attach a small shower screen to this bath surround?

Only thing I can suggest aside from a proper shower screen (which I'd recommend) is trying to source either a glass corner shelf of sufficient size or the top from a glass table top or TV stand etc - you need to check the the glass is tempered/toughened (it'll be kitemarked)[edit- both shelves and table tops etc should also be toughened/tempered but it's always worth double checking!].

As for fixing in place...well they use silicone to build aquariums but getting it neat takes a bit of practice.

dangerous- um, why? The correct glass for the job, properly cut and edged by a professional glass supplier, properly fitted won't be 'dangerous', just not commercially sized.

It has to be tempered to be safe - that's not something that your local glass supplier can do generally - it's only undertaken generally for larger runs of products.

Most glass suppliers will be able to send any piece of glass to be toughned

Look up glass splashbacks
They can be made to size, then tempered.
