It’s interesting to looking at the NS and I figures on the big winners, most holdings seem to be recent and 10k plus. But one of the million pound winners this month bought their bonds in July.

Does anyone win big with a 1970’s holding? I don’t know how easy it is to launder money into PB’s.

Problem is saying nothing for us without an indication of holding isn’t helpful as of you only had £5 worth it’s not a surprise, but of you had £50k each it would be disappointing

Very few people bought their only bonds in the 1970’s

No it’s not.

As interest rates fell AND tax on interest grew, many people put money into PB’s - hence the growth in the number of people with the maximum holdings

Hence my post last month about the number of people with the maximum holding - 1.5 million

Problem is saying nothing for us without an indication of holding isn’t helpful as of you only had £5 worth it’s not a surprise, but of you had £50k each it would be disappointing

£50k for the MiL, just a grand left in our accounts as we took it all out and put it in a savings account (post office) giving us a guaranteed £365 a month, every month and about £4.5k in an account for our son - money given by relatives for Christmas and birthdays etc years ago and just put in there. He has forgotten about it so will come as a nice surprise one day - any winnings is added to his holding.
