Hi Everyone,

What are the HVAC concerns for a small 1930's built flat?

What can realistically be achieved and what cannot?

Objective is to filter stale and polluted air from outside, as there is a motorway in close proximity.

I am sorry I think you'll have to be more specific, are you after a twin unit, why do you need active cooling?
Or
Are you after a MVHR? Air outside should not be stale, have you thought about an air purifier if you are worried about pollutants?

I've been told around 1990's the flat owner was offered air purifiers fitted to the bedrooms and lounge which extracted air from outside through a filter. They were basically boxes fitted to the wall running off a spur, which were offered as part of a motorway improvement scheme. They are no longer in the flat and the holes that were made for the intake have been blocked up.

What I was hoping to achieve is better air quality inside the flat as the person suffers breathing difficulties and from allergies that may be related or agitated by environmental pollution.

What are the options?

The original units were all of the same size, approximately 400x600mm.

How about a single room mhrv?
They can fit a 4" round hole and have filters.

Blimey lots to choose from. I need to make sure that the unit will be suitable for bedrooms. It's got to be super quiet
