High,
In a previous post I was advised to use rendering to repair a patch (internal cavity wall) which is approx four square feet and has a maximum depth 1 ¼ inches. The trouble is try as I might (B&Q, Wickes, etc etc) I cannot find a supplier of small quantities of lime.
Would hydrated lime from the local garden centre suffice or can anyone suggest a cheap alternative?, the old pension seems not to go so far these days.
Thank you
Barry

Thanks peaps,
Contacted Travis Perkins but as they are only interested in the trade they redirected me to their subsidiary sites (Tool Station Wickes stc) which I know do not sell lime.
I would never have thought that in this day and age trying to obtain a shovel of lime could be so difficult.
Anyhow many thanks for your help
Barry

Tippers? I'm not sure they have one in your area but I'm supprised you can't get bag lime from a builders supply!!! Build base or any of the like.

Be carefull with lime, it is an additive for mortar not a ready mixed product.
It can take your skin off and burn your nasal passages. I would stick to a pro for your repair.
Any builders merchant sell it in 20kg bags which is enough to do a 150 sq wall if mixed with sand and cement. For external use, but K-Rend FT silicone in white or suitable colours.

Ready mix ,just add water lots of time to apply, and sponge smooth.

Apologies to OP You sponge up Krend? How does it come out?

Yes. it is never 'skim' smooth, but the final finish is very good. (Sponge float) We like it better than scratch style. Try it !

Hi compendiumhead,
Thanks for the note of caution, however thanks to the efforts of peaps I managed to obtain some lime which was not too expensive. The job was not too difficult and I was quite pleased with the outcome, but I would certainly hire a skilled person for jobs which were any larger.
Thank you
Barry

Glad you managed to sort the problem out.

Hydraulic limes are safe to use if you have the right protective equipment, gloves, goggles etc It's not the same for non-hydraulic lime however!
