Hello,

Can anyone help?

I just put in a new bathroom. I had to drain my domestic hot water for the taps. I've turned the supply water back on, the water has filled up and have water coming back out of my taps. But I dont have any hot water. The heating is working fine and the radiators get nice and hot. But no hot water from taps. I can turn on the emersion heater in the tank and it works fine.

Can anyone tell me whats going wrong and how to fix it?

Hope someone can help as I have two young children that need their baths

Kind regards from
Mark Brown

Did you drain the ch side as well for a new bathrrom rad? If so you may have an airlock between a 2 or 3 port valve and the hw cylinder. Try looking for an air bleed point next to the hw cylinder off the flow from heating into cylinder about 1/2 way up cylinder

i havent installed a radiator back in the bathroom yet. When I took old ratiator off I just turned the valves off and removed the radiator. I didnt drain the central heating side, just the domestic hot water.

There is a bleed valve off a pipe at the bottom of the cylinder. Does the domestic water go in the top of the cylinder. Why does my water get hot with the emersion but not the boiler?

With the boiler on for HW, go to your hot water tank and look for heating pipes going into the tank - if they are not fully hot trace them back to see where the problem is. You may have an air lock or a problem with the valve that controls the HW side of the heating circuit.

Feel the pipe going from the pump into your cylinder, after your three port valve, if it`s hot feel the pipe coming out of the cylinder at bottom, is it also hot?, probably not, your three port valve may have stuck in the heating only position.

Also check that your programmer is not set for Heating only, it may sound silly but I have seen it done more than once

because the water level might have dropped below the cylinder flow pipe

and if you knew anything instead of trying to be clever then you would know it does happen

If that was the case I would expect to hear a lot of noise  can`t be bothered arguing, see you laters.
