But don’t build much muscle , only weights do that .Don't run, even on a treadmill. Definitely not on tarmac.

Cycle or swim. Both take the weight off your legs and build strength and fitness but without any impact.
Wrong. Completely wrong.No'1 Swimming. Have you ever seen an unfit swimmer? They don't do gym exercises, almost all of their training is done in the pool & have you seen Adam Peaty recently, he's ripped.
