ICE told to get the eff out

These are the rules for Federal officers:

  1. Deadly force may not be used solely to prevent the escape of a fleeing suspect.
  2. Firearms may not be discharged solely to disable moving vehicles. Specifically, firearms may not be discharged at a moving vehicle unless: (1) a person in the vehicle is threatening the officer or another person with deadly force by means other than the vehicle; or (2) the vehicle is operated in a manner that threatens to cause death or serious physical injury to the officer or others, and no other objectively reasonable means of defense appear to exist, which includes moving out of the path of the vehicle. Firearms may not be discharged from a moving vehicle except in exigent circumstances. In these situations, an officer must have an articulable reason for this use of deadly force.
Yes we know all of that, as can be seen by the outcome, the rules in a book are not always followed as other circumstances are a factor

Their rules say they should have let her go instead of using deadly force. So, ipso facto, that is what they should have done.

3 shots is that all

There are plenty of vids on line of plod shooting people in excess of 15 times ( entire magazine) and than reloading to empty another magazine into the suspect

They also carry rifles on board now that came about after the holly wood bank robbery when the police were out gunned by two bank robbers with Ak 47 s and armour penetrating ammo

No, in this photo he was standing to the left of the car and her wheels are already turned to the right. She then sets off to the right. For some reason he jumps backwards. She didn't hit him and was never going to hit him.

Those shots are very selective, to the point of misleading.

The wheels were turned to the left, or at least straight when she accelerated. If the road hadn't been icy she'd have run him down. But the wheels span on the ice, then she turned right, got some grip on the ice and the car started moving.

It was attempted murder by the driver, who got shot in self-defence.

Not according to the city authorities.

If she really was driving away from them then she'd have been in reverse.

It's easy to criticise on the basis of frame-by-frame analysis. If the cop had the abililty to freeze time I'm sure he would have. But if I was him, with a gun pointing at someone who's driving at them, resisting arrest, then it should be obvious that she would end up getting shot.

The bullet passed through the windscreen, not the side window - despite the cop being right-handed.

It was a very confusing state of affairs for both "sides" of this event.

But the woman was not a "terrorist".

The fact that 1 side has come out trying to label her as such has massive connotations.

A cover up is part of that. The city authorities disagree with the federal view before it's even a day old.

This isn't going to be brushed under the carpet .

More of us should be. What happens next in Iran has the potential to bring some sort of lasting peace in the Middle East.

I must admit, I hadn't realised until yesterday how heavily intertwined Venezuela was with Iran and Hezbollah.
