Hi,

I have a 5 ltr can of ICI Matchmaker Vinyl Emulsion (Brilliant White) and hope to use it as a mist coat on plastered walls (done 6 or 7 weeks ago). From reading a few forums sounds like there is a lot of confusion of what is right way to go about task. I am thinking it should be thinned down by 20%, i.e. 4 parts emulsion, 1 part water.

Secondly, can I get away by just applying roller or should it be with brush so that it is absorbed - rather just creating a skin with roller?

Any advice?

cheers
M.

I dont know the product im affriad so its difficult to comment on the ratios..but with dulux I reckon you might be able to go a bit more..maybe 25%-30%

As for the finish..roller and brush will do the same job, the paint will still absorb into the surface, however IMO you get a nicer finish with a brush and you wont have splatter from the roller.
