I'd like to put an immersion timer switch in my kitchen...

I have a regular immersion switch in my kitchen at the moment (standard switch with a neon light) but as I've just had a new kitchen fitted thought I could do something about it before the new tiles go up.

In the boiler cupboard at the moment I have a mechanical timer fitted:

It's no problem for me to take the timer out of there and just have it wired up to the master switch but I'm not sure what kind of timer I need in the kitchen or if it's even possible. I don't see why it wouldn't be but don't want to mess up

Any suggestions?

Provided it's capable of taking the load of the immersion heater then there's no reason why it can't go after the switch (FCU probably) in the cable to the immersion.

Or if you don't want it in the kitchen, there's no reason why it shouldn't go in the cupboard where the h/w cylinder is....

I do want it in the kitchen for ease of use. I'm not sure what kind of switch to get though...

How often will you be changing the times?

Thought you wanted to re-use the timer you currently have?

Well I won't be changing it all too often, it's just a right pain to get to where it is at the moment.

I wanted a new digital switch ideally.

The timer in the cupboard at the moment heats the water up in the morning etc, I just wanted to move it so if it needs changing I don't have to move everything out of the way of the cupboard (it's in the corner of the lounge you see) and then move everything out of the cupboard too.

I would just be nicer and easier to have the controls in the kitchen I thought, and with a switch being there already I thought it would be quite straight forward.

So lose the switch in the cupboard, move the timer to the kitchen.

Or buy a digital timer.

Or replace the kitchen switch with a timed FCU.

Yeah, that's what I was asking - I wanted to check if it was possible (which it is ) and if so, what kind of timer do I need?

The timer in the cupboard wouldn't be suitable for the kitchen, I need one which will fit a standard socket, I'm not sure what I can use though.

Probably not, but as the product information button isn't working I can't say for sure.

Those type of clocks are designed for switching boilers and associated parts on and off. The boiler bits use very little power, where as an immersion heater uses quite alot of power, which will burn out the contacts within the programmer.
