Hi, I have the above boiler, was working fine until today. Last night I noticed that the fan had started to make a bit of noise, a bit of a squeal which came and went.

Today we switched the heating off and switched over to just water but the boiler wouldn't resrtart. It makes a hum sound but the fan never kicks in.

I'm guessing the fan has had it?

The boiler is about 10 years old I guess, how long would you expect one of these to last?

Also, when the boiler works, it tends to switch on for say 3 or 4 minutes, then goes off for a similar time and then goes on again. Is that normal behaviour for the boiler?

Thanks for the help

id get a corgi lad in, if it is the fan ya mite get away with a clean n lube and he can check its all workin right

Sounds like the fan, they DO seem to run hot in those.
Worth getting it repaired.
The short-cycling may be just the way your system is, or a failing pump, blocked system, old thermosttat, etc.

ive also had the pilot solenoid cut out wen it gets warm, hard 2say without checkin it out

cheers guys, much appreciated. Will call a Corgi tomorrow and get them to check it out and do a service.
